Why Zinc?

Why Zinc

Zinc Die Casting

zinc_die_castingZinc is a natural element found in the Earth.  Zinc is essential to life.  It is in all cells of the human body.  Zinc is also in the food we eat and in products we use every day.   As a matter of fact, the U.S. penny is made from 98% zinc with a copper plating finish.  Zinc in its natural form is mined from the earth in using safe, clean & efficient procedures.

The Advantages of Zinc Die Casting

Zinc offers many advantages over so many other materials that they are difficult to list in full. Zinc is cost effective, strong, easy to work with, and lasts a very long time. It also has other physical properties and characteristics that are often a requirement in highly technical uses or demanding environments.

Some of the specific advantages of Zinc Die casting include:

High Strength
High Rigidity
High Impact Strength and Ductility
High Hardness Conductivity – Thermal and Electrical
High Fatigue Strength
Excellent Pressure Tightness
Excellent Dampening Properties
Outstanding Corrosion Resistance

Our Zinc Die Castings also have the Following Additional Advantages…

Reduced Assembly
A Zinc Die Cast can combine components as a one-piece design.

Less Material Use
Zinc is strong and light weight. In addition, we can utilize our thin wall capabilities to produce components with less weight and greater cost savings compared to our customers.

Fewer Total Assembly Parts
Zinc castings eliminate the need for bearings or bushings because of zinc’s high die cast bearing properties allowing for greater design flexibility.

Every Zinc Die Casting produced by RIDCO is environmentally friendly.  Our zinc die casting alloys are completely recyclable.   In fact, over 1/3 of the zinc consumed annually is produced from recycled materials.
